High Speed Doors Provide Reliability and Energy Savings

Customer Type: Food Manufacturer

Industry: Industrial & Manufacturing

PROBLEM
A food manufacturer had two sliding freezer doors on the cooler wall leading into the freezer. The doors were damaged and experienced frequent breakdowns. They were not sealing well, which allowed air from the freezer side to escape, which caused ice build-up on the doors.

SOLUTION
DH Pace presented a solution of specialized high speed doors to provide the insulation the facility required and the reliability the manufacturer wanted. DH Pace removed the sliding freezer doors and installed (2) 10-foot-wide by 10-foot-tall insulated high speed doors in their place. The new doors were constructed of thermal, puncture-resistant, moisture-proof fabric with a vapor barrier. They had an R-value of 17 and featured seals on all sides as well as the ability to self-repair if impacted to reduce maintenance and downtime.

The doors have an average opening speed of 120” per second and closing speed of up to 60” per second to ensure traffic flows freely and time open for cold air to escape the freezer is minimized. Safety lights on the left and right sides of the door on each side of the opening clearly warn drivers and pedestrians when the door is about to close.

The result is a customer who is now able to operate their facility more efficiently and safely without worrying about lost product from improper temperatures or delayed production due to downtime of their doors.
